1. Registration Categories: The ERB has three main categories for registration: Graduate, Registered, and Professional.

    • A diploma, advanced diploma, technology degree, or a degree in any recognized engineering discipline.
    • Less than four years of post-qualification experience in the engineering discipline for registration.
  3. Registered Category Requirements:
    • A diploma, advanced diploma, technology degree, or a degree in any recognized engineering discipline.
    • More than four years of post-qualification experience.
    • Inability to demonstrate all the required competencies for professional registration.
  4. Professional Category Requirements:
    • A diploma, advanced diploma, technology degree, or a degree in any recognized engineering discipline.
    • More than four years of post-qualification experience.
  5. Temporary Category Requirements

The Temporary category is for expatriate engineering professionals who are not ordinarily residents of Botswana and do not hold a residence permit of six months or more. Only individuals with more than four years of post-qualification experience are eligible for registration under this category. Expatriate graduates without sufficient professional experience will not be considered for registration.

    • Applicants can submit their application via the ERB website.
    • The application process includes filling out a registration form, uploading necessary documents, and paying the required fees.
    • The board assesses the applications based on the provided information and documents.
    • Required Documents:
      • Copies of degree/diploma certificates, identity document, post-graduate professional experience summary, and other relevant documents.
      • Proof of payment for the non-refundable application fee and registration fee.
      • Validity and Renewal:
        • The registration certificate is valid indefinitely, while the practicing certificate needs annual renewal.
