The Engineers Registration Board (ERB) recently conducted a mock accreditation site visit at the University of Botswana’s Faculty of Engineering as part of its ongoing efforts to support and promote quality engineering education in Botswana.

The exercise covered the following departments:

Department of Mechanical Engineering
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The mock accreditation visit provided an opportunity to assess the Faculty’s preparedness against relevant engineering education and professional accreditation standards. It also provided a platform to review existing practices, identify areas for improvement, and encourage continuous enhancement of the quality and delivery of engineering programmes.

Through engagements with the Faculty, the exercise further sought to strengthen collaboration between ERB and institutions offering engineering education, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, competencies, and professional attributes required to contribute meaningfully to Botswana’s development.

ERB appreciates the Faculty of Engineering’s engagement, cooperation, and commitment to maintaining and strengthening engineering education standards. Such initiatives play an important role in supporting the development of competent and professionally prepared engineers who will contribute to Botswana’s infrastructure, innovation, and economic development.
